WOT summer training resumes in Rzeszów on Aug 14

WOT summer training begins Aug 14 in Rzeszów with 16- or 8-day courses; 150 volunteers joined the first session. Learn how to apply and what to expect.

The 3rd Subcarpathian Territorial Defence Brigade will launch the second session of Wakacje z WOT on August 14. The WOT summer training will provide a 16-day basic course for new volunteers and an eight-day refresher for those who already swore the oath.

Second session of WOT summer training begins August 14

Recruitment already requires steps before arrival. Consequently, applicants must submit a request at a Military Recruitment Centre. Moreover, they must pass a medical commission and psychological tests. However, the brigade stresses that candidates must start the process early. In addition, the first session began on June 27 and drew 150 volunteers. Therefore, the unit expects similar interest this time.

What the courses cover and where graduates serve

The basic 16-day course covers shooting, drill, regulations, combat first aid, tactics, land navigation and communications. Moreover, instructors include a tactical loop test to verify skills before the oath. Consequently, volunteers who complete training may join battalions in Rzeszów, Nisko, Dębica and Tarnobrzeg. However, those who already took the military oath can opt for the eight-day catch-up course. In addition, the programme aims to suit students, employees and working adults who want to begin or continue service.

How to apply and what to expect at recruitment

Prospective volunteers must visit their nearest Military Recruitment Centre to file a request. Moreover, staff will explain eligibility requirements and timelines. Consequently, medical and psychological screenings follow the application. However, the brigade warns that late applicants risk missing the intake. In addition, WOT training remains voluntary and fits alongside civilian jobs for many people. Therefore, applicants should notify employers early and check leave rules for reservists.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: Foreign residents often ask whether they can join WOT. Check eligibility with the Military Recruitment Centre before applying, because rules may depend on citizenship or residency status. Also, inform your employer early about training dates and verify how service affects work leave and benefits. In addition, understand Polish institutions: ZUS (social insurance), NFZ (public health care) and PESEL (national ID number) may matter for documentation and benefits. Finally, medical and psychological screening will assess fitness for service, so prepare documentation and time for tests.

Wakacje z WOT has run since 2019. Consequently, the programme aims to introduce new volunteers to territorial defence tasks. Moreover, its timing during summer suits students and people with seasonal flexibility. However, for expats planning to take part, the key steps are clear. First, check your eligibility. Second, submit the request at the recruitment centre. Third, complete the medical and psychological steps in good time. Therefore, you will avoid last-minute delays and join the intake as planned.
