ZUS moves September payouts earlier to Sept 18

ZUS early payment: pensions due on Sept 20 will arrive by Sept 18, including the automatic fourteenth pension.

Poland’s Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) announced a ZUS early payment for pensioners whose scheduled date falls on Sunday 20 September 2026. Those beneficiaries should receive their regular pension and the automatic fourteenth pension by Friday 18 September 2026.

Which payments change and why

ZUS pays pensions and disability benefits on six fixed days: 1, 6, 10, 15, 20 and 25 of each month. If a scheduled day lands on a weekend or public holiday, the institution transfers funds earlier. In September 2026 the 20th falls on a Sunday. Therefore ZUS will process those payments on the last working day before that date, namely Friday 18 September 2026. Earlier in the month the 6th also fell on a Sunday. ZUS paid those benefits by Friday 4 September 2026.

ZUS early payment and the fourteenth pension

This month the timing matters more because ZUS pays the so-called “czternastka” alongside basic pensions and benefits. The fourteenth pension is automatic; recipients do not need to file a claim or visit an office. The full czternastka in 2026 equals 1978,49 zł brutto for those whose basic pension or disability benefit does not exceed 2900 zł brutto. Where the basic pension exceeds that threshold, ZUS reduces the extra amount “one złoty for one złoty”. For example, a person with a 3500 zł brutto pension exceeds the limit by 600 zł. Their fourteenth payment will equal 1978,49 zł – 600 zł = 1378,49 zł brutto. ZUS does not pay the czternastka if, after reduction, it would fall below 50 zł brutto. Practically this excludes those with pensions above 4828,49 zł brutto.

Practical timetable for September 2026

The September schedule is clear. Payments due on 1, 10, 15 and 25 September proceed as usual. The 6 September payouts moved earlier to 4 September. The 20 September payments move earlier to 18 September. ZUS emphasised this is a routine rule. The institution aims to prevent beneficiaries from waiting over a weekend or a holiday for funds. ZUS issues the payments automatically, including the czternastka.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you live in Poland and receive a pension, ZUS (Zakład Ubezpieczeń Społecznych) handles most pension rules and payments. You do not need to apply to get the fourteenth pension (czternastka) — ZUS pays it automatically with your regular benefit. If you rely on bank transfers, check your account on Friday 18 September 2026 if your statement shows a scheduled payment date of 20 September. For more complex questions, consult the official government portal or your local ZUS office.
