Weekend Wólczyńska resurfacing: traffic alert
Wólczyńska resurfacing will close a key shortcut near the Northern Cemetery for 54 hours, causing bus diversions and driver detours.
Wólczyńska resurfacing will close a busy shortcut near the Northern Cemetery this weekend. Consequently, crews will start work on Friday at 22:00 and finish early Monday at 04:00.
What is changing on the ground
The city will close Wólczyńska between Estrady and Wóycickiego. Moreover, the intersection with Wóycickiego will also close. Therefore, drivers must follow the marked detours. One detour sends traffic via Estrady, Arkuszowa, Wólczyńska, Opłotek and Palisadowa. In addition, a second detour routes vehicles through Estrady and Trenów, then Brukowa and Kolejowa in Łomianki. Then drivers return to Warsaw via Pułkowa, Wóycickiego, Palisadowa and Opłotek. Consequently, the works aim to repave the surface quickly. Workers will mill the old asphalt and lay new material. However, they will schedule the work to limit weekday disruption.
Traffic rules, parking and local access
The municipality will post no-parking signs along Wólczyńska. Moreover, the notices will warn of towing at the owner’s expense. Therefore, you should move your car before Friday night if you parked there. Access to the Northern Cemetery car park will change. In addition, drivers will reach the cemetery parking only from Wóycickiego. Then vehicles can exit only toward Palisadowa. Also, the exit from Burleska onto Wóycickiego will be right-turn only. Consequently, funerals and visitors should plan for extra walking time.
Public transport diversions
Buses will follow temporary routes. For example, line 181 will run from the main gate of the Northern Cemetery via Wóycickiego, Palisadowa, Opłotek, Wólczyńska and Nocznickiego to the Młociny metro loop. Moreover, 250 will use Arkuszowa and Estrady, and will serve the main cemetery gate on Friday from 22:00. However, on Saturday and Sunday between 09:00 and 17:00 it will stop at the west gate. In addition, line 409 will start and end at the cemetery main gate during the closure. Therefore, public transport remains a reliable alternative for many commuters.
Why this matters for expats: many international residents use the Northern Cemetery area as a shortcut to Młociny and surrounding neighborhoods. Therefore, the closure affects daily commutes and airport transfers. Moreover, taxi and courier drivers will face delays. However, planning will reduce stress. Use the detours and bus changes described above. Also, allow extra time for errands and appointments.
