Warsaw Equality Parade: Road Closures and Bus Reroutes

Warsaw Equality Parade will march through central Warsaw on June 13, causing street closures and bus detours. Plan extra travel time.

The Warsaw Equality Parade will march through central Warsaw this Saturday, June 13. Police will close streets and buses will run detours, causing delays for drivers and commuters.

What to expect at the Warsaw Equality Parade

The event will start from Park Świętokrzyski, where organisers set up Miasteczko Równości. In addition, organisers plan to depart about 14:00. Consequently, the procession may last until approximately 16:30. The march will move along Świętokrzyska, Nowy Świat and Krakowskie Przedmieście. Moreover, it will continue down Miodowa and Senatorska. Then, the route will pass Plac Teatralny and Marszałkowska. Therefore, many central streets will see temporary closures. Police will decide on closing each street as the event progresses. However, they may also block cross streets like Bielańska, Królewska or Plac Bankowy.

Transport changes and street closures

Police may close Emilii Plater toward Świętokrzyska from about 06:00. Consequently, cars will not pass between Aleje Jerozolimskie and Świętokrzyska. In addition, police may close Świętokrzyska near the Palace of Culture and Science around 09:30. Therefore, drivers will not pass from Emilii Plater to Marszałkowska.

Buses will run on special detours all day. For example, line 178 will terminate early at Rondo Daszyńskiego. Moreover, when Emilii Plater closes, lines 100, 117, 160, 507 and 521 will use Aleje Jerozolimskie and Jana Pawła II. During the march those same lines will keep their detours. In addition, buses 106, 107, 111, 117, 171 and 520 will travel Aleje Jerozolimskie only to Dworzec Centralny. Furthermore, lines 116, 180 and 503 will run via Sanguszki, Wisłostrada and Karowa. Consequently, some routes will end early at Centrum or Esperanto loop stops. Therefore, expect altered stops and longer journeys. The metro will run more frequently from 12:00 to 19:00 to help passengers.

Advice for drivers, residents and visitors

Drivers should avoid central arteries during the parade. In addition, plan parking outside the closed zones. Taxis and ride-hailing apps will face delays, so allow extra travel time. Moreover, cyclists should use alternate paths away from the procession route. Residents should check local notices for short-term parking bans. Also, keep any important Polish documents on hand if needed, for example PESEL (national ID number) or a valid ID. Remember that authorities issue a mandat (fine) for parking violations. Finally, if you need healthcare or social services, note institutions like NFZ (National Health Fund) and ZUS (social security) operate normally despite the parade.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you live or work near Śródmieście, plan your Saturday commute in advance. Check public-transport updates and station notices. Moreover, carry a valid ID and your PESEL if you may need official services. Therefore, expect noise and larger crowds near the route, and avoid parking in zones that show temporary bans to prevent a mandat (fine).
