Two injured in Mokotów: Lexus collides with Kia

Two people injured after a Mokotów car crash on Postępu Street; rescue services responded and traffic faced major delays.

The Mokotów car crash on Postępu Street left two people injured on Thursday evening. Consequently, emergency crews sealed the scene and traffic moved in a single alternating lane.

Mokotów car crash: how the collision unfolded

Police say a Lexus turned from Marynarska onto Postępu. Moreover, the driver attempted a sudden left turn between stopped cars. However, the driver crossed a double continuous line into oncoming traffic. At that moment, a Kia traveling straight struck the Lexus. Therefore, the impact injured two passengers in the Kia. In addition, the Lexus driver escaped without injuries.

Emergency response and road impact

Firefighters, three medical teams, and police reached the scene quickly. Consequently, firefighters secured both vehicles and the surrounding area. Moreover, medical teams treated the injured and transported two people to hospital. However, a third Kia passenger walked away without injuries. In addition, officials reported that the Kia had been collected from the dealership the same day and showed roughly 300 kilometres on the odometer.

Traffic near the overpass at Marynarska slowed significantly. Therefore, Postępu saw alternating one-way traffic at the bridge ramp. Consequently, the delay affected drivers crossing this part of Mokotów. Moreover, commuters felt the impact during evening rush hour.

What the police will investigate

Police will determine fault and exact cause. Moreover, they will check witness statements and any camera footage. In addition, they will inspect the vehicles for damage and braking signs. Therefore, officers may issue a traffic fine or other measures if they find violations of road rules. However, legal outcomes can vary based on the full investigation.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you are involved in an accident in Poland, call emergency services at 112. Moreover, always exchange driver details and document the scene with photos. In addition, report injuries and get a medical record, which you will need for any insurance claim. Note that Polish systems include the NFZ (national health insurer) for emergency care and ZUS (social insurance) for benefits. Also, expect to provide your PESEL number if you have one (national ID number). If police issue a fine, they call it a “mandat” in Polish.

Local drivers and residents reacted quickly. Therefore, bystanders helped first and guided emergency services. Moreover, municipal teams later cleared debris and removed wreckage. Consequently, Postępu reopened fully only after police completed their on-scene work. However, investigators will keep the case open until they finish all procedures.

For expats living in Warsaw, this incident highlights local driving patterns. Moreover, it shows why you should remain cautious at junctions and overpasses. In addition, know local emergency numbers and the documentation you will need after a crash. Therefore, being prepared can speed help and insurance procedures.
