Paid parking arrives in Włochy from May 2027

The city will introduce paid parking in Włochy from May 17, 2027. This affects residents near Chopin Airport and Raków, and changes local parking dynamics.

The City Council approved the expansion of paid parking in Włochy, and residents will face fees from May 17, 2027. Consequently, the change targets streets near Chopin Airport where travellers long left cars for days.

Paid parking in Włochy: what the decision covers

The council expanded the paid parking zone to include Raków and the northern part of Okęcie. Moreover, the change coincides with another extension on Mokotów affecting Służewiec and parts of Służew. Therefore, the city expects a coordinated rollout on the same date.

The municipal authorities explained the reason clearly. In addition, they noted that airport passengers frequently used local streets as free long-term parking. As a result, many residents lost spaces near their flats to non-locals. The city wants to restore those spaces for people who live there.

The move followed public consultations in late 2025. However, not all residents agreed during meetings and on social media. The city held online and in-person meetings in December. Consequently, officials adjusted plans by street, as they had done in prior rounds for Mokotów.

City officials also published cost estimates for the project. In 2026 the implementation will cost about PLN 2 million. In 2027 the rollout will peak and cost nearly PLN 8 million. Moreover, the council expects ongoing annual costs around PLN 5 million after that. Despite the expense, the city argues that public transport alternatives exist nearby.

The authorities justify the extensions by pointing to areas near the centre or with strong transit links. For example, Mokotów benefits from trams, buses, and the metro. Likewise, Włochy sits close to central Warsaw and the airport. Therefore, officials say many trips can shift from cars to public transit.

The city also kept the resident annual permit price steady. President Rafał Trzaskowski emphasized that annual permits remain PLN 30. In addition, the city promised clear signage and new payment machines. The municipality will also provide mobile payment options and apps for convenience.

For expats, the change affects daily routines and housing decisions. Moreover, landlords and tenants may need to renegotiate parking clauses. In addition, people who commute to Chopin Airport should consider paid long-term parking options at the airport. Otherwise, they may risk fines or towing.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you live in or visit the newly covered streets, register for a residential parking permit early. In Poland expect local rules enforced by parking officers. A “mandat” means a fine, and you can pay it locally. Also, bring ID such as PESEL for residents (PESEL = national ID number), and remember that ZUS refers to social security and NFZ is the public health insurer. Use city parking apps or machines to avoid penalties.
