Nearly PLN 1M for Subcarpathia’s village initiatives

Minister Krajewski handed nearly one million zloty for Subcarpathia to 86 local groups under the Aktywna Wieś scheme.

Lead: Minister of Agriculture Stefan Krajewski visited Trzciana and handed promesas to local groups receiving nearly one million zloty for Subcarpathia. Moreover, the grants will support 86 organisations in rural areas with small projects aimed at culture, education, and community building.

What happened in Trzciana: promesas and purpose

Minister Krajewski personally handed promesas, certificates that confirm awarded funding. Consequently, the state allotted PLN 960,903.12 to 86 local organisations from the Subcarpathian region. Moreover, the programme targets groups like Kola Gospodyn Wiejskich (rural women’s circles) and Ochotnicze Straze Pozarne (volunteer fire brigades). In addition, foundations and associations will share the money. The maximum grant per project stands at PLN 15,000.

Why the government funds local groups

Minister Krajewski said the “Aktywna Wieś” programme responds to demands raised in many local meetings. Therefore, he expanded the budget from PLN 10 million to PLN 15 million. Moreover, nearly 5,000 applications reached the ministry. Consequently, about 1,400 projects across Poland will receive support. However, the state concentrates not only on big agriculture grants. It also backs bottom-up civic activity. In addition, these funds aim to keep rural life vibrant and resilient.

nearly one million zloty for Subcarpathia: who benefits

Local villages will use grants for festivals, historical and educational events, and product promotion. Moreover, groups will run training sessions and integrate newcomers. For example, towns near Rzeszow attract new residents. Consequently, some grants will help newcomers learn local traditions. In addition, volunteer fire brigades will use funds to improve community outreach. Moreover, Kola Gospodyn Wiejskich will further promote regional food and crafts.

Political and regional context

PSL MP Adam Dziedzic opened the event and praised civil society. However, he also referenced grain import controls and defended Polish farmers. Consequently, the funding can also be seen as a political signal of support for domestic agriculture. In addition, the minister framed the grants as part of wider rural policy. Therefore, expect more small-scale programmes aimed at social cohesion.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: In Poland, a “promesa” is a written promise of funding. Kola Gospodyn Wiejskich are local women’s circles that organise events and sell regional products. Also, public services use acronyms: ZUS (social insurance office), NFZ (national health fund), and PESEL (national ID number). Therefore, if you are an expat joining local initiatives, carry your PESEL or passport for paperwork. Moreover, many local events welcome volunteers and non-Polish speakers.

Local leaders like the mayor of Swilcza stressed that even modest sums can spark activity. Moreover, the minister presented symbolic gifts to female organisers. Consequently, the ceremony combined practical funding with public recognition. In addition, the grants will reach villages quickly after formal checks. Therefore, communities can start planning events this year.
