Man Arrested After Quad Chase in Lublin

A 34-year-old Georgian faces charges after a dangerous quad chase in Lublin; police seek deportation and the case highlights risks for expats.

A 34-year-old Georgian man faced charges after a dramatic quad chase in Lublin on the evening of Saturday, June 13. Police say he refused to stop, endangered pedestrians, and drove despite a court driving ban.

What happened during the quad chase in Lublin

The incident began around 21:30 in central Lublin. Consequently, officers attempted a routine stop. However, the rider fled and led police on a pursuit through busy streets. In addition, the man drove across sidewalks and entered restricted zones. Moreover, witnesses reported pedestrians running to avoid the vehicle. Therefore, the chase created serious public danger.

Police response and evidence

Police tracked the quad through Plac Litewski, Aleje Racławickie and streets including Zielona and Świętodulska. Consequently, municipal CCTV cameras from the city’s monitoring centre recorded part of the chase. Moreover, officers found the abandoned quad on a parking lot on Niecała Street. In addition, criminal investigators from the IV Police Station identified and arrested the driver. Therefore, law enforcement secured the vehicle as evidence.

Charges, legal consequences and immigration action

Authorities say the suspect admitted his actions. However, officers discovered he had an active court ban on driving all motor vehicles. Consequently, prosecutors charged him with failing to stop for police and driving despite the ban. In addition, they accused him of several traffic offences for endangering others. Therefore, he faces up to five years in prison for fleeing police. Moreover, police handed him to the Border Guard. Consequently, they requested an order obliging the foreign national to leave Poland.

The authorities also secured 20,000 PLN as a provisional payment toward future penalties. In addition, criminal charges now go through the judicial process. However, the combination of criminal prosecution and immigration measures could lead to a deportation decision and an entry ban for the man if authorities issue it.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: As an expat, you should know a few Polish terms and rules. A “mandat” means a fine, while a “sądowy zakaz prowadzenia pojazdów” is a court driving ban. The Straż Graniczna is the Border Guard and can enforce deportation. In addition, Poland uses PESEL as a national ID number for residents, ZUS for social security, and NFZ for public health insurance. Therefore, avoid driving if a ban applies. Moreover, always carry valid vehicle insurance (OC), and stop for police when requested. If you face criminal charges, seek legal help and contact your embassy.
