FLORINA Ladle Recall: Toxic Chemicals Found

GIS warns about toxic substances in kitchenware after tests found harmful chemicals in a FLORINA ladle. Stop using affected batches.

The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate has warned consumers after finding toxic substances in kitchenware made by FLORINA. Consequently, the authority asked people to stop using specific batches of the MULTI SMART ladle immediately.

Toxic substances in kitchenware: what was found

Laboratory tests detected migration of primary aromatic amines from the ladle into food. Therefore, the chemicals may pose a health risk if consumers use the product to prepare or serve meals. Moreover, the Inspectorate named the batches and provided barcodes to help people identify the items at home. The affected lots carry codes A20-091 and A19-435 and use EAN 5902719506734.

Product details and immediate actions

The ladle sells under the FLORINA brand as MULTI SMART. In addition, its country of origin is China and the Polish distributor is Florentyna Sp. z o.o. Consequently, the company and the Inspectorate have suspended sales. Moreover, the distributor began removing the product from retail shelves. However, authorities confirm the batches passed import checks when they arrived. Therefore, investigators now review how the migration risk occurred.

Health risks and what the chemicals mean

Primary aromatic amines should not appear in food. In addition, toxic exposure over time may increase cancer risk or cause other long-term problems. Consequently, consumers should avoid using the specified ladles for cooking or serving. Moreover, anyone who already used the item and feels unwell should consult a doctor. However, minor accidental contact does not usually require emergency treatment.

The Inspectorate published a red alert and a photographic label to make identification quick. Therefore, shops must remove affected items and stop selling them. In addition, national sanitary stations monitor the withdrawal process across stores and online marketplaces.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you live in Poland, report dangerous food-contact products to the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS). In addition, save your receipt and check the batch code before you return the item. Moreover, you can contact the distributor for a refund or replacement. For official complaints, contact your local sanitary station (Państwowa Inspekcja Sanitarna, similar to public health services). Also remember that Polish systems use PESEL for identity numbers, ZUS for social security, and NFZ for public healthcare access, which you may need for medical follow-up or documenting claims.

For expatriates, pay attention to labels and EAN codes when buying kitchenware. In addition, many products imported from outside the EU can reach Polish shelves if they pass initial checks. Therefore, keep evidence of purchase if you suspect contamination. Moreover, retailers usually handle returns or refunds, and consumer rights allow claims through small courts if needed.

Finally, the GIS asks consumers to stop using the two named batches. Consequently, do not use the FLORINA MULTI SMART ladle from A20-091 or A19-435. In addition, monitor the Inspectorate’s website for updates and follow retailer instructions for returns.
