Lubelskie police operation targets two-wheeler safety
Police in Lublin Voivodeship launch a region-wide operation to boost two-wheeler safety. Checks target riders, vehicles and sobriety.
Police in Lublin Voivodeship launched a region-wide operation on Wednesday called Bezpieczny Jednoślad to reduce crashes involving motorcycles, mopeds, bicycles and e-scooters. The campaign targets the most vulnerable road users, because no car body protects them.
Bezpieczny Jednoślad: what police are doing
Officers set up checks across the region. They inspect riding behaviour, the technical condition of vehicles, required equipment and sobriety. Moreover, they stop riders who create immediate danger. Consequently, the operation aims to prevent crashes and remove reckless riders from roads.
Who is being stopped and why it matters
Police focus on motorcyclists, moped riders, cyclists and electric-scooter users. These people suffer the worst injuries in collisions. Even minor incidents can end tragically for them. Therefore, drivers of cars must adjust their behaviour. Drivers must keep distance, yield properly and check for approaching single-track vehicles before turning.
Numbers that explain the urgency
So far this year, the region recorded 34 crashes with two-wheeler involvement. In those events, 32 people suffered injuries and two died. Moreover, 2025 data show a larger picture. Cyclists took part in 122 crashes; 106 were injured and 12 died. Motorcyclists featured in 94 crashes; 85 were injured and eight died. In addition, moped users appeared in 34 crashes with one death and 31 injuries. Electric-scooter users joined 43 crashes, with 41 injuries and one death. Consequently, authorities urge greater caution as spring increases the number of riders on roads.
Checks, equipment and penalties
Officers inspect lights, brakes, tyres and other safety parts. They also verify mandatory equipment like lights and helmets. In addition, police perform sobriety tests. They will issue fines and remove unsafe vehicles from traffic. Moreover, they will prosecute serious violations. A Polish fine is called a mandat (fine). In serious cases, the rider faces court and higher penalties.
Police stress that safety depends on every road user. Riders must follow traffic rules, maintain vehicles and adjust speed to conditions. Drivers must watch for vulnerable users and respect their space. Moreover, the campaign has an educational aim. Police hope that more awareness and mutual respect will reduce tragic outcomes.
