Heating subsidy up to PLN 3,500 — how to claim
A new heating subsidy in Poland pays up to PLN 3,500 in 2026. Apply between July 1 and August 31; check eligibility and documents.
Poland will offer a new heating subsidy in 2026 that pays up to PLN 3,500. Therefore you must act fast because the application window runs only from July 1 to August 31.
Heating subsidy: who qualifies and how much
The government relaunched the voucher because heat prices rose after June 30, 2025. Consequently the state doubled payments for 2026 to help households through a full year of higher bills. Moreover up to 400,000 households may receive support nationwide. However not every building qualifies. The benefit covers only heat supplied by a municipal or estate network, not individual gas or electric boilers. In addition the payment depends on the one-component price per gigajoule. Therefore if your bill shows more than PLN 230 per GJ you can get PLN 3,500. If the price sits between PLN 200 and PLN 230 per GJ, the allowance is PLN 2,000. Meanwhile prices below PLN 170 per GJ disqualify a household.
When and where to apply
The application period lasts exactly two months. Consequently local councils will accept forms from July 1 until August 31, 2026. Moreover you can file in person, by registered mail, or online through mObywatel, ePUAP or gov.pl. However you must send the form to the mayor or municipal office responsible for your place of residence, not to your place of registration. In addition municipalities had to publish whether heat prices in their area qualify. Therefore check your gmina website by late June to confirm eligibility. Otherwise your form may remain unprocessed.
Documents, income rules and the crucial certificate
First get a certificate from your building manager, housing cooperative or homeowners association. Consequently this document must state you receive system heat and show the one-component price per GJ. Moreover if you contract directly with a heat supplier you enter the price in the form and you do not need the certificate. Second prepare income records for 2024. Therefore the benefit uses 2024 incomes to determine eligibility and calculation. Third know the “one-for-one” rule. If your income exceeds the limit, the benefit falls by the amount of excess income. However you do not lose the payment entirely unless the result drops below PLN 20. In addition the payment is social aid. Thus it does not count as taxable income and the state does not enforce it via debt collection.
Practical steps matter. First check your heating bill for the price per GJ or ask your administrator. Second request the certificate now, because managers will face heavy demand in July. Third gather 2024 income records and your bank details. Finally submit the application online on July 1 to speed up payment.
