Exhibition Opens 65th Music Festival in Łańcut

An archival photography exhibition opened in Rzeszów to mark the 65th Music Festival in Łańcut, with photos on display through August.

The foyer of the Filharmonia Podkarpacka in Rzeszów opened an exhibition to mark the 65th Music Festival in Łańcut on 19 May. The show presents archival photographs, memorabilia and memories that trace six decades of musical life.

History captured in photographs

The exhibition traces the festival’s history through images. Moreover, it highlights landmark performances and artists. Consequently, visitors can see photos of Jose Carreras, Jose Cura and Tanita Tikaram. In addition, the display includes local favourites and Polish music icons. The festival shaped the region’s cultural identity. Therefore, the show presents more than images. It presents memory and meaning.

The exhibition opened in the foyer of the Filharmonia Podkarpacka named after Artur Malawski. The director, Marta Wierzbieniec, said photographs record atmosphere and change. Moreover, she described the festival as a long-running cultural force for Podkarpacie. The display includes more than sixty images. In addition, over twenty of those pictures come from local photographer Wit Hadło. Consequently, the photos give a ground-level view of concerts and audiences. The exhibition remains open until the end of August. Therefore, many visitors can plan a trip during the summer.

Why this matters to expats

This festival offers a rare chance to experience Polish cultural continuity. Moreover, it shows how regional festivals attract national and international stars. In addition, visiting offers a way to meet locals and practice Polish. However, note that concerts can sell out. Therefore, buy tickets in advance. The festival centres events in historic Łańcut and in Rzeszów venues. Consequently, you can combine a short trip from Rzeszów city centre to Łańcut castle for a full cultural day.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you live in Poland long term, register practical matters early. For example, NFZ (the public health insurer) and ZUS (social security) handle healthcare and benefits. In addition, you do not need a PESEL (national ID number) to buy festival tickets. However, keep your ID with you at events. Moreover, Polish stewards can issue a mandat (on-the-spot fine) for rule breaches, so follow venue rules. Finally, Rzeszów-Jasionka airport (RZE) sits a short drive from Łańcut, and trains and buses connect the two towns.
