Zamosc gets most contracts, but not millions

Zamosc funding covers five local grants but totals only PLN 6.1m, enabling nearly PLN 10m of road works and 5.4 km of new asphalt.

The Lublin voivode signed 13 local infrastructure grants, and five target the Zamość area. However, Zamosc funding amounts fall far short of millions, totaling just over PLN 6.1 million for local councils.

Zamosc funding: where the money goes

The provincial office will transfer more than PLN 32.6 million to all Lublin beneficiaries. Consequently, the Zamość district will receive slightly over PLN 6.1 million. Moreover, the subsidies will cover between 50 and 70 percent of project costs. Therefore the public money will unlock almost PLN 10 million in total investment value. In addition, that cash will pay for 5.4 km of new, safer asphalt.

Winners at county and municipal level

The county administration secured the largest single award at the district level. It gained PLN 2.5 million for a 2.5 km rebuild of the Radecznica–Sułowiec road. Moreover, officials obtained the maximum 70 percent co-financing for that work. The municipality of Miączyn leads among gminas. It will modernise a 1.4 km stretch in Kotlice-Kolonia. However, the cost here rises to PLN 2.875 million. Consequently, the state grants PLN 1.7 million for that scheme. Zwierzyniec will spend PLN 870,900 to renovate Słowackiego Street, with a 60 percent subsidy. Szczebrzeszyn will modernise two local roads in Wielącza Kolonia thanks to PLN 547,900 in aid. Krasnobród will rebuild a sub-0.5 km section in Kaczórki with a PLN 513,600 grant. Therefore local budgets will share the remaining costs with the national pool.

Where will heavy machinery operate?

Works will begin in the coming months. Consequently drivers should expect short closures and detours near those towns. Moreover, local freight and bus routes may see temporary changes. In addition, contractors will prioritise safety and speed. Therefore residents can expect smoother commutes and fewer pothole-related hazards when works finish.

Why this matters for expats

Good roads improve daily life. Moreover they reduce wear on private cars and delivery vehicles. However municipal co-financing means local councils must budget their share. Consequently they may delay other local projects or reallocate funds. For reference, Poland operates institutions such as ZUS (social insurance) and NFZ (public health fund). In addition, expect normal local rules on fines (mandat) and identity documents like PESEL if you already have one.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: Local road projects in Poland often require municipal co-funding. Therefore you may see more public consultations and notices from the Urząd Gminy. If you drive here, follow detour signs and expect heavy machinery near Radecznica, Miączyn, Zwierzyniec, Szczebrzeszyn and Krasnobród. Also check local websites for timing. Finally, remember basic Polish civic terms: ZUS is the social insurance agency, NFZ is the national health fund, a mandat is a fine, and PESEL is the national ID number.
