Warsaw expands paid parking; Bielany next?

City council approved extending the paid parking zone Warsaw to four districts; Bielany is now under study and consultations will follow.

Warsaw councillors voted on June 11 to extend the paid parking zone Warsaw to four districts. Consequently the city plans to install meters in September 2026 and in mid-May 2027.

What the paid parking zone Warsaw expansion covers

The council approved widening the zone to Wola, Praga-Południe, Mokotów and Włochy. Moreover the city expects almost PLN 18.5 million extra revenue annually. However the expansion will require upfront spending on meters and signage. Therefore the city plans phased installation and system upgrades.

Bielany steps forward but timetable remains fluid

The Bielany mayor requested the zone too. He warned that long-term commuter parking blocks sidewalks and roads. In addition the district already plans street works to match future rules. However ZDM will only start local consultations after the four approved districts come online. Therefore neighbours should expect public talks in 2026 or 2027.

Costs, revenues and politics

The city estimates near PLN 18.5 million a year in new revenue from this year’s expansion. Yet the rollout needs capital. Consequently officials forecast about PLN 2 million in 2026 and PLN 8 million in 2027. Moreover the council vote showed division. Thirty-five councillors supported the change while thirteen opposed.
