System of a Down at PGE Narodowy prompts major transport reroutes and extra services; plan trips and expect possible bridge closures.

System of a Down at PGE Narodowy will perform for the first time on Saturday and Sunday, July 18-19. Consequently, Warsaw will face large-scale temporary changes to public transport and traffic management on both nights.

What is changing and when

The concerts start at 20:30 on both nights. However, transport changes begin much earlier. From 17:00 each day, the city will adjust more than twenty bus routes and two tram lines. Moreover, stops Wybrzeże Szczecińskie 01 and 02 will stop being request stops. They will serve lines 146, 147 and Z21 as fixed stops during the events.

Routes, detours and possible bridge closures

Transport operators plan conditional detours. If Sokola street closes between Zamoście and Wybrzeże Szczecińskie, buses 102, 125, 146, 147 and 202 will use Kijowska. Therefore, planners can extend detours to Zamoyskiego and Aleja Zieleniecka if needed. Consequently, lines 135 and Z21 may also change routes via Rondo Waszyngtona.

However, the greatest disruption may come if authorities close the Aleje Jerozolimskie – Most Poniatowskiego – Aleje Poniatowskiego corridor right after the shows. If they close it, eleven lines will detour via Most Łazienkowski and Wał Miedzeszyński. In addition, the city will open temporary stops like Rondo Waszyngtona 53 and 54, Adampolska, and Plac na Rozdrożu.

Similarly, officials may close the Most Świętokrzyski corridor. In that case, lines 118, 127, 162, N14 and N64 will detour via Most Śląsko-Dąbrowski. They will use Wybrzeże Gdańskie and Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie instead. Also, tram lines will get extra runs to handle the crowds.

Extra services to disperse crowds

Transport operator ZTM (Zarząd Transportu Miejskiego, Warsaw’s transit authority) will run additional special buses after each concert. Specifically, lines 138, 509, 517 and Z-9 will depart from Rondo Waszyngtona and Plac Trzech Krzyży. Moreover, extra tram runs on lines 7 and 26 will run to Gocławek and Metro Młociny respectively.

Therefore, the city plans multiple temporary measures. Also, some detours will activate only if authorities close specific bridges. Consequently, passengers should check live updates before leaving the stadium.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you live or travel near Praga-Południe, Saska Kępa or Powiśle, plan extra time after 17:00 on July 18-19. Check ZTM updates (ZTM manages routes and live changes). Also watch for temporary stops that mapping apps may not show. If officials close a bridge, they will re-route buses via other bridges, which can add 10-30 minutes to journeys. Finally, remember Polish administrative terms: PESEL is your national ID number, NFZ is the public health fund, and a mandat means a fine.

If you do not attend the concerts, avoid driving through Most Poniatowski or Most Świętokrzyski in the late evenings. Instead, use Most Łazienkowski or Most Śląsko-Dąbrowski as alternatives. Moreover, motorists should expect traffic and sudden closures.

For concertgoers, check your bus or tram route on the ZTM website before you leave. Also pay attention to on-board announcements and local signage. Therefore, you will avoid confusion when temporary stops operate only during detours.
