Planned electricity cuts hit Warsaw streets

Planned power outages in Warsaw will affect many streets on August 7-8. Prepare devices and check the operator schedule.

Planned power outages in Warsaw will affect multiple streets starting Friday, August 7.

Consequently, the utility operator scheduled long interruptions to upgrade the network and a transformer station.

Details of planned power outages in Warsaw

The operator set the first interruption for Friday at 08:00 on Ruczaj 40 and 57.

Moreover, crews expect that outage to last until 16:00, so residents may face up to eight hours without power.

In addition, teams will cut supply on Friday at 08:00 at Obiegowa 37 and 39.

Therefore, that break may last until 14:00, roughly six hours.

However, the largest scheduled shutdown occurs on Saturday, August 8.

Crews plan to stop power from 07:30 to 18:00 for a transformer station upgrade.

The affected streets include Dekarska, Fraszki, Gęślarska, Głubczycka, Jagny, Piątkowska, Potażowa, Przepiórki, Rybnicka, Franciszka Szuberta, Wszemirowska, Zaranie and Świerszcza.

Consequently, many houses and apartment blocks may lose electricity for up to ten and a half hours.

Importantly, the operator warned that the schedule can change or that work might stop without notice.

Therefore, check the operator’s website or local notices before the planned times.

What stops and what still works

Power cuts do not only mean dark rooms.

For example, electric gates, intercoms and elevators rely on building power.

Moreover, routers and home internet will likely go offline unless a battery backup exists.

In addition, medical devices that need mains power may stop working.

Therefore, anyone using such equipment must arrange alternatives in advance.

For landlords and tenants, note that building entry systems sometimes include manual overrides.

However, not all buildings provide clear instructions, so ask your property manager now.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If your address appears on the list, prepare for a multi-hour outage. Charge phones, laptops and powerbanks. Moreover, secure refrigerated food and arrange medication backups. In Polish buildings, intercoms and gates often stop without power, so learn manual release procedures from your landlord. In addition, inform neighbours if someone depends on electricity for medical devices. For official services, remember common Polish terms: PESEL (national ID number), ZUS (social security) and NFZ (public health insurer). Therefore, carry important documents and emergency contacts, and check the operator site for last-minute changes.

Finally, consider working offline or moving to a public space with power if you need internet access for work.

Consequently, plan travel and errands around the scheduled hours.

Moreover, keep a battery light or torch in your flat.

In short, treat the dates as certain but flexible, and prepare accordingly.
