Zamosc hospital modernization brings PLN 80.8m for oncology, cardiology and digital upgrades funded by Poland’s recovery plan.

Zamosc hospital modernization marks a major upgrade at the Provincial Hospital named after Pope John Paul II in Zamość. The investment totals PLN 80,834,150.38 and aims to improve care for patients across southeast Lublin Voivodeship.

Zamosc hospital modernization: major projects and funding

The hospital completed three large investment projects. Consequently, the facility now gains new infrastructure, equipment and digital tools. Moreover, public funding covered most costs. In fact, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (KPO) provided PLN 69,738,037.12. Therefore, the projects include oncology expansion, cardiology upgrades and IT modernization.

Oncology expansion and surgical robotics

The largest project focused on oncology. It costs PLN 48,966,907.52. Moreover, KPO paid PLN 42,358,902.02. Consequently, the hospital modernized the Clinical Oncology Ward. In addition, the chemotherapy drug preparation lab received upgrades. The facility also purchased a da Vinci Xi surgical robot. Therefore, surgeons can now perform minimally invasive and precise procedures. As a result, patients should recover faster and face fewer complications. Furthermore, the oncology ward will grow from 33 to 57 beds. This increase reduces pressure on nearby hospitals and shortens wait times.

Cardiology and heart surgery improvements

The second project strengthened cardiology services. It totals PLN 17,296,792.86, and KPO funded PLN 15,434,135.10. Consequently, the hospital refurbished Block C, third floor. In addition, staff received 165 new medical devices. Therefore, diagnostic capacity for heart disease will rise markedly. Moreover, the investment supports both cardiology and cardiac surgery units. As a result, local patients can access higher-level care closer to home.

Digital upgrades, faster care and stronger data security

The third project focused on digital services and IT infrastructure. It costs PLN 14,570,450.00, with PLN 11,945,000.00 from KPO. Consequently, the hospital integrated electronic records and improved document workflows. In addition, new tools will help clinicians access data faster. Therefore, staff will spend less time on paperwork. Moreover, leaders upgraded cyber security to better protect patient data. Note that Poland uses PESEL numbers (national ID) and systems like NFZ (National Health Fund) for health administration. These upgrades will streamline interactions with such systems.

Local government played a key role. The Lublin Voivodeship self-government covered non-eligible costs, including VAT. Therefore, the hospital could fully use available funding. Consequently, the projects moved from plans to reality faster.
