Major upgrade planned for Mokra Street in Św. Piątka

Mokra Street redevelopment in Św. Piątka will replace slabs with asphalt, add drainage, and improve pavements. Works aim to finish this year.

Zamość has launched a new local road project on the Św. Piątka estate as the Mokra Street redevelopment moves into tender. The city is planning work from Konarskiego, through Zielona intersection, to the sports fields above Łabuńka.

Mokra Street redevelopment: scope and timeline

The project will remove old concrete slab pavement. Consequently, crews will build a new road base and lay asphalt. In addition, the plan covers new sidewalks and paved driveways made of cobblestone. Moreover, the city will install a stormwater drainage system. The municipality also pledged to replace ageing lighting poles. However, the design requires cutting some trees that obstruct the work. The city promised compensatory plantings in return.

Cost, procurement and schedule

The local budget currently holds a bit over one million zloty for the task. However, the final price will appear when the city opens contractor bids. Therefore, firms can submit offers until 15 June. The selected contractor will have 135 days to finish works. The city expects completion before year-end so residents enjoy the new street this winter.

Why this matters to residents and expats

The Mokra Street redevelopment follows another major plan on Orla Street. Consequently, the neighbourhood will see multiple upgrades this year. Residents call the area overlooked until now. Therefore, they welcome investments that improve daily life. Better roads reduce vehicle wear and local dust. Moreover, new drainage can prevent floods on rainy days. In addition, upgraded pavements aid people with strollers and reduced mobility.

Local voices and related projects

Renata Mazurek, head of the Św. Piątka estate board, praised the moves. She said every zloty spent benefits local people. Moreover, councilor Anna Przytuła expressed strong support. She also noted plans for a playground and a small garden at the Jordana and Paderewskiego junction. The playground came from the participatory budget. Therefore, children will gain a safe play area near home.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you live near the works expect temporary traffic changes. Contact the municipal office for parking or access questions. In Poland local projects follow public procurement rules and deadlines, so tender dates matter. Keep your PESEL (national ID number) handy for local administrative requests if needed. Also note ZUS means social insurance, NFZ is public health insurer, and a mandat means a fine for breaking local rules.
