Lublinalia festival kicked off in Lublin despite persistent rain. The student crowd filled Błonia Browaru Perła and enjoyed live sets.

Organisers brought together four universities for the city event. Consequently, the University of Maria Curie-Skłodowska, the Lublin University of Life Sciences, the Medical University, and the John Paul II Catholic University pooled resources. Moreover, they partnered with the Intercultural Creative Initiatives Centre Rozdroza. Therefore, the festival kept its program even when showers fell. The first day featured Dziewidły, Oskar Cyms, T.Love, Zalia, Grubson, and Kuqe 2115. In addition, the second day will showcase Eryk Moczko, Tymek, Miü, Smolasty, Kukon, and Modelki.

Practical details, transport and safety

Gates will open from 15:00 and music will start around 16:00. Consequently, organisers expect long queues during opening. Moreover, they installed a dedicated entrance and exit zone on Bernardyńska street. Therefore, drivers should avoid that stretch to prevent delays. In addition, the city runs extra night buses on N1, N2 and N3. The buses will run every 30 minutes between 22:30 and 01:30. Then they will run hourly until 04:30. However, check timetables before travelling.

What to expect on site

Visitors will find chillout zones and food trucks around the venue. Moreover, sponsors set up partner contests and special attractions. Therefore, the event aims to offer more than music. The organisers said they wanted a place for rest, meetings and community time. In addition, security staff will patrol the site. Consequently, expect bag checks at the gates. Also, follow staff instructions to avoid fines or delays (mandat = on-the-spot fine).

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you are an expat, buy tickets in advance and carry ID. In Poland, police and security may ask for identification (PESEL = national ID number for residents, but foreigners show passport). Moreover, public healthcare runs under NFZ (National Health Fund), so carry travel insurance or an EHIC if you have one. In addition, social contributions go through ZUS (social insurance) for workers, but students often have different rules. Therefore, know that hospital care without insurance may cost money. Finally, respect local rules and recycling zones to avoid a fine (mandat).

Why this matters to expats and newcomers

First, student festivals show a social side of Polish cities. Moreover, they reveal local tastes in music and culture. Therefore, attending helps you meet locals and practise Polish. However, remember that large events bring transport changes and crowding. In addition, plan your journey and book taxis or check night buses. Also, carry cash and cards, as food trucks may not accept all payments. Finally, keep emergency numbers handy and know where the first aid point is on site.
