Late on 10 October 2026, a knife attack on bus in Bielany wounded two passengers. The assault happened on line 755 near the Prozy stop at 23:23.

Knife attack on bus in Bielany: what happened

Police in Warsaw say an unknown man approached two passengers during the ride. He stabbed both men, aged 22 and 42. Both suffered cuts and stab wounds to the chest and neck. Emergency crews reached the scene and gave first aid. The victims were taken to hospital and police say their lives are not in danger.

Police response and ongoing search

The attacker left before officers arrived. The report reached police at 23:23. Komenda Stołeczna Policji is leading the investigation. Young asp. Jakub Filipiak told reporters detectives have a preliminary suspect. Officers are now searching for that man and collecting witness testimony.

Context and related incidents

The authorities say the suspect likely did not know the victims. At this stage investigators cannot confirm a motive. Earlier the same day another knife incident occurred on Praga-Południe. A 21-year-old woman attacked people at a post-secondary school on Mińska street. Three people suffered injuries in that case. Police said they see no grounds to link the two events so far.

Violent incidents on public transport raise practical questions for residents and visitors. Warsaw has a large bus fleet and many night routes. The city police and transit operators work together on safety. Still, sudden acts of violence can happen anywhere.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you witness violence, call emergency services and report the incident to local police (Policja). For non-emergencies visit the nearest police station or use their official channels. If you need medical care, Poland’s NFZ (National Health Fund) covers emergency treatment for residents and those with appropriate access. Keep your ID with you. A PESEL is a national ID number for residents; foreigners usually rely on passport or residence documents. If you are injured, ask hospital staff about billing and coverage under NFZ or private insurance. When dealing with authorities, note the name of the police unit, such as Komenda Stołeczna Policji, and any officer who takes your statement. Seek help from your embassy or consulate if you need language support or legal guidance.
