Fuel prices dip ahead of June 3 — what drivers pay
Poland fuel prices fell ahead of the June 3 weekend, with petrol at 5.70 zł/l and LPG below 3.70 zł/l. Watch for global oil risk.
Fuel prices surprised drivers again ahead of the long weekend. Poland fuel prices dropped to some of the lowest levels in months.
Poland fuel prices: government limits and station offers
The Ministry of Energy set temporary retail caps for June 4-5. Consequently, stations cannot legally charge more than 5.94 zł for 95 octane petrol. Moreover, the cap lists 6.52 zł for 98, and 6.40 zł for diesel. Therefore many drivers will see stable pumps during the holiday.
On June 3 some outlets offered 95 petrol at 5.70 zł per litre. However most stations priced 95 around 5.94-5.95 zł. In addition, diesel varied between 6.18 zł and 6.39 zł per litre. The cheapest LPG appeared near 3.69 zł per litre. Consequently drivers with LPG still benefit from a clear cost advantage.
Why diesel remains pricier
Diesel still costs more than petrol at the pumps. This gap reflects wholesale dynamics and refinery work. Moreover refineries processed less diesel relative to petrol in recent weeks. As a result diesel fell slower than petrol. Therefore drivers of diesel cars face higher trip costs.
Market risks: global oil and geopolitical tension
Global oil prices climbed from about 93 to near 98 dollars per barrel. Consequently analysts warn that domestic pump prices may rise again. Moreover tensions in the Middle East add upward pressure. Therefore refiners could raise wholesale prices within days. In addition any sustained Brent increase will likely reach retailers fast.
Fuel networks also compete with promotions before the Corpus Christi holiday. Consequently some chains sold premium fuels near standard prices. In addition shops offered coupons with discounts of several grosz per litre. Therefore savvy drivers could save meaningful amounts on long trips.
Krakow, Warsaw, and other cities show price dispersion. Drivers in Warsaw increasingly use apps and price comparison tools. Moreover stations at supermarkets often sell cheaper fuel than highway outlets. Therefore planning a quick comparison can save money. Also a 20-30 grosz per litre difference on a 50 litre fill means notable savings.
Forecasts show small price rises possible for June 8-14. Consequently predicted averages place 95 petrol near 5.93-6.07 zł. Moreover diesel may trade between 6.42 and 6.54 zł. Meanwhile LPG remains the cheapest option, likely near 3.49-3.58 zł.
For drivers planning holiday trips the immediate advice is clear. Check prices across apps before you go. In addition consider topping up now if you expect to travel when oil rises. Therefore short-term buyers can benefit from current low levels.
