Fatal A2 motorway crash kills 31-year-old motorcyclist

A fatal A2 motorway crash near Siedlce killed a 31-year-old Yamaha rider after his bike hit a truck trailer and a central barrier.

A 31-year-old motorcyclist died on the A2 on Saturday after his Yamaha struck the rear of a truck trailer and then hit the central barrier. The A2 motorway crash occurred before 14:00 while the rider headed toward Siedlce.

A2 motorway crash: what happened on the road

Police say the Yamaha struck the back of a trailer on a straight stretch. The machine then collided with the barrier that separates the motorway lanes. Emergency services started resuscitation on site. Medical staff could not save the rider and he died at the scene.

The truck drove on and police later identified the driver as a 39-year-old man. Officers checked him with a breathalyser. He tested sober. Officers worked under the supervision of a prosecutor. The prosecutor ordered that the body undergo further examinations. Aspirant Katarzyna Gągolińska from the Komenda Miejska Policji w Białej Podlaskiej provided these details.

Investigation and legal steps

Police have opened proceedings to determine the exact sequence and causes of the collision. Investigators will examine vehicle damage, the trailer’s markings and skid marks. They will also interview witnesses and check any camera footage. The prosecutor will decide if the case requires further legal action.

In Poland a prosecutor often supervises serious traffic incidents. This means police preserve the scene and secure evidence. Authorities may order an autopsy or toxicology tests when needed. If you see a police officer take notes, they record evidence for those later decisions.

Why this matters for expats

Major motorways like the A2 carry high-speed traffic. Motorcycles face extra risks from sudden braking and lane changes. Single-vehicle and rear-end collisions on stretches with heavy trucks can be deadly. Riders and car drivers should be aware of the speed and size differences between vehicles.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you are involved in a crash in Poland expect police and a prosecutor to handle serious cases. The police may perform breath tests and secure the body for further forensic checks. A “prokurator” oversees investigations of fatal accidents. For administrative matters remember local institutions: ZUS (Social Insurance Institution) handles some benefits, NFZ is the national health fund, a “mandat” means a fine and PESEL is the national ID number used in many official procedures. Keep your insurance details handy and report the incident to your insurer as soon as possible.

Police emphasise that the investigation must clarify speed, distance and circumstances. Witness statements and technical exams will shape the final report. For now, authorities focus on establishing facts rather than assigning blame.
