A man who drifted BMW in Lublin was stopped by police and found to face 8 years for drug crimes.

A 29-year-old man who drifted BMW in Lublin drew police attention after a risky stunt on a roundabout. Consequently, officers discovered he was wanted to serve eight years for drug offenses.

Drifted BMW in Lublin: Arrest and prison term

The incident happened near a busy junction in the city. Moreover, local officers from Komisariat I stopped the BMW after they saw a deliberate drift. The driver spun the car and created a real danger for other road users. Therefore, police moved in and pulled the vehicle over. In addition, the man resisted and acted aggressively during the stop. Consequently, officers used protective measures and placed him in a detention room. He then faced the outstanding sentence for narcotics crimes. However, police noted the case now moves from traffic enforcement to criminal custody.

Police response and legal consequences

Polish law bans intentional skids on public roads. Moreover, the rules apply in residential zones and areas marked as traffic zones. The usual penalties include a high fine or a mandat (fine). In addition, drivers face at least 10 penalty points. Therefore, police can revoke a driver’s licence. Also, reckless driving can lead to criminal charges if it endangers life. Consequently, this incident triggered criminal procedures because the driver had an active warrant for eight years.

For foreigners the enforcement works the same way as for locals. Moreover, officers will request identification. Usually they ask for PESEL (national ID number) or a passport. In addition, you should carry your passport or residence card. Therefore, you can prove your identity quickly. Also, you may ask for a translator if you do not speak Polish. However, keep calm and follow officers’ instructions. Consequences can include arrest, detention, and later court proceedings. Furthermore, a prison sentence can affect work permits and benefits like ZUS (social security) and healthcare coverage via NFZ (National Health Fund). Therefore, legal advice matters if you face serious charges.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If police stop you, produce ID and stay calm. Moreover, you have the right to ask for an interpreter. In addition, contact your embassy if you face arrest. Also, a “mandat” means a traffic fine and you can pay it on the spot in minor cases. Furthermore, PESEL is a Polish personal identification number that authorities use to confirm identity.
