County Social Integration Center Opens in Górno

The County Social Integration Center in Górno opened to help 24 residents return to work, offering training and counselling with EU funding.

The County Social Integration Center in Górno opened on 16 June, offering practical and psychological support to residents. Moreover, the centre aims to help people recover social and work-related skills after life crises.

About the County Social Integration Center

This new institution is the first of its kind created by Powiat Rzeszowski. Consequently, the centre will serve 24 local participants who face poverty or social exclusion. In addition, the project targets the long-term unemployed, people inactive professionally, and persons with disabilities. The facility runs two practical workshops. One focuses on gardening. The other handles cleaning and green maintenance.

Services on offer and everyday impact

Visitors will find social skills workshops and sociontherapy classes. Moreover, staff will provide computer training and lessons in household budgeting. In addition, participants receive entrepreneurship training and job search preparation. Therefore, the centre also offers psychological help and vocational counselling. Furthermore, a social worker will support each participant through individual planning. The centre equipped two minibuses for participant transport. Consequently, staff will bring people to the centre from across the powiat. The building sits at ul. Rzeszowska 7 in Górno. However, the authorities repurposed and modernised the structure to suit new activities. The official opening included a blessing by the local parish priest. Furthermore, local officials stressed that this is an investment in people.

Funding, scale and why it matters

The county invested almost 2.5 million złoty in renovation and equipment. Moreover, the whole project costs over 2.4 million złoty. In addition, the Powiat Rzeszowski secured more than 2.3 million złoty in grants. Therefore, the money comes mainly from the European Social Fund Plus and the national budget. Consequently, the EU support aims to enhance employability and social inclusion across the region. The centre will provide tools, computers, gardening equipment and two vans. Moreover, local officials expect the project to reduce long-term dependency on benefits. Therefore, it should help participants find stable work or training.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: Foreign residents should note that Polish social services usually require local registration. In practice, you will often need a PESEL number (national ID number) or a residence card. In addition, state health coverage works through the NFZ (National Health Fund), and social insurance comes via ZUS (Social Insurance Institution). Therefore, EU citizens with registered residence and third-country nationals with lawful residence may access some services. However, eligibility rules vary by programme and by powiat, so contact the local office first. Moreover, bring ID and proof of address when you visit.

How expats can engage and next steps

If you live in the Rzeszów county area, contact the Powiat Rzeszowski office to ask about eligibility. Moreover, the centre seeks to help residents back into the labour market. Therefore, volunteers and employers can partner to offer placements. In addition, the centre may become a hub for local green projects. Consequently, it can provide practical training that matches regional labour needs. Finally, the new centre shows how EU funds and local leadership can create social infrastructure for vulnerable people.
