Poland’s Social Insurance Institution, ZUS, will move August pension payment dates for some retirees. The change affects ZUS pension payments and means some seniors will receive their money earlier than usual.

Which dates change and why

ZUS pays pensions and disability benefits on six fixed days each month. They include the 1st, 6th, 10th, 15th, 20th and 25th. However, in August 2026 two of those dates fall on non-working days. Consequently, the payments that normally fall on 1 August will go out on Friday 31 July. Moreover, payments due on 15 August will go out on Friday 14 August, because 15 August is both Saturday and a national holiday, the Assumption of Mary.

ZUS pension payments: what the rule means

ZUS follows a long-standing rule. If the scheduled payment date falls on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, ZUS sends funds no later than the previous business day. In addition, this rule covers both bank transfers and cash disbursements through Poczta Polska. Therefore, postal payouts leave the institution earlier to allow time for delivery.

Practical implications for recipients

Seniors do not need to apply or contact ZUS to get the earlier payment. However, plan your household budget now if you rely on a pension arriving on a fixed date. For example, if you normally pay monthly bills on the 1st, then your August payment will arrive on 31 July. Consequently, you will face a longer gap until the next payment in September. Furthermore, understand that the earlier transfer is the full monthly pension. It does not represent an extra payment or a bonus.

If you do not see the money on the new date, check your account the following business day. Banks sometimes delay posting transfers when institutions accelerate payment schedules. However, if the funds still do not appear, contact your local ZUS branch. The staff can quickly check the transfer and explain any problem.
