Wawer roadworks: dates and detours announced

Wawer traffic disruptions start Sept 17 with lane and pedestrian closures; Mozaikowa detours begin Sept 22. Check local routes and timings.

Wawer traffic disruptions will affect drivers and pedestrians from 17 September. The city announced staged water main works that will change traffic at Przewodowa and Mozaikowa.

Schedule and immediate impact

The city contractor, Miejskie Przedsiębiorstwo Wodociągów i Kanalizacji, will carry out a water main build near Ciekawej. The first stage starts on 17 September 2026 at 7.00. Teams will narrow the carriageway on Przewodowa. Pedestrians will face closures of the footpath and crossings from the Radoszycka side. This first stage should finish on Monday, 21 September.

Wawer traffic disruptions: detours and changes from Sept 22

From Tuesday, 22 September, crews will work on Mozaikowa. Excavations there will restrict through traffic and force detours. Published detour routes run via Sulęcińska, Tawułkowa and Przewodowa. Drivers can also use Mozaikowa, Szafirowa and the service road along the bypass.

New local circulation rules and priorities

The neighbouring Sulęcińska will become one-way from Mozaikowa to Tawułkowa. Entry into Sulęcińska from Tawułkowa will be forbidden. Vehicles leaving Wiesiołek may turn into Sulęcińska only to the right, toward Tawułkowa. At the Przewodowa and Mozaikowa junction, vehicles on Przewodowa will have priority. The municipality says the works will run until the end of September.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: Expect slower journeys during the works. If you use a car, plan extra time and follow posted signs. Public transport routes may change, so check local bus or tram operators for updates. Also note a “mandat” refers to a traffic fine in Poland. Driving licences and registrations work the same, but keep your documents handy if officials stop traffic.

For expats, understanding the local road signage helps. Polish road signs follow EU style but use Polish terms. If you drive regularly near these streets, consider alternate routes or different travel times. If you rent a car, check whether your insurer covers detours and temporary restrictions. If a parking rule is breached, authorities can issue a mandat (fine). For administrative issues, official municipal portals list closures and traffic orders.

These works tie into wider utility upgrades across the district. Replacements of old water mains reduce future breaks. The short-term inconvenience aims to prevent longer disruptions later in the year. Drivers and pedestrians should heed temporary one-way orders and priority signs for safety and efficient traffic flow.
