Podpromie Parking Closed for KultURalia Festival

The Podpromie parking closure starts 17 May for KultURalia. Drivers should plan alternate parking and public transport.

Podpromie parking closure will begin on Sunday, May 17, when organizers block the lot for preparations. Drivers who use the lot must remove cars before the evening or face inconvenience.

Parking at Podpromie will close for the event

The city will close the large free central lot by the Podpromie sports hall from 22:00 on May 17. Consequently, the closure will last until midnight on May 24. The municipality expects organizers to dismantle stage elements and equipment promptly after the festival. Therefore drivers should not assume the lot will reopen early.

Event moves to the city centre

KultURalia 2026 will take place on May 22 and 23. In addition, student unions from the University of Rzeszów and WSIiZ will run the festival. For years students used suburban sites on ul. Cicha and ul. Dołowa. However, this year the action moves into the urban core. Consequently the festival will occupy streets and public space near Podpromie for two days.

What to expect at KultURalia

The programme blends rock, rap, pop and hip hop. On Friday, May 22, the lineup will include Happysad, Łydka Grubasa, Chivas, QRY, Eryk Moczko and Emka. Moreover the opening night will lean on rock and rap. On Saturday, May 23, organisers expect the largest crowd. Therefore they booked Young Leosia, Young Igi, Modelki, Michał Szczygieł, Waima and Blaga for the second day. Consequently expect loud music and large pedestrian flows in the centre.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you park at Podpromie, move your car before May 17, 22:00. Otherwise the organisers will use the space for the stage and backstage. For expats: event closures and towing rules follow standard Polish regulations, and police and municipal wardens can issue a mandat (fine). In addition, you do not need a PESEL number to be fined or to retrieve a towed car. If your car gets towed, contact the local municipal services or call emergency lines. Moreover public transport and paid city garages offer alternatives. Finally remember that local signs will clearly mark temporary closures, so follow them to avoid tickets.

For vehicle owners, plan alternatives now. For example use paid garages, park in residential zones with permits, or use public transport. Moreover Rzeszów offers bus routes and shared mobility options near the city centre. If you rely on free parking, note that Podpromie is the largest free lot in central Rzeszów. Therefore losing it for a week affects many commuters and shoppers. In addition local activists have criticised the city center for prioritising cars over public space. Consequently this change highlights wider tensions about urban planning and pedestrian-friendly design.

Organisers ask that everyone respects the temporary infrastructure. They also ask owners to remove vehicles before crews arrive. However if you miss the deadline, contact the municipal office quickly. Moreover the festival will create noise and crowds. Therefore expect limited access to nearby streets and longer walking times to reach central services.
