Planned Power Outages in Warsaw: What Expats Need to Know

Check planned power outages Warsaw and prepare devices, internet backups, and food. See affected districts and practical tips.

The city will carry out planned power outages Warsaw across several districts next week. Consequently, residents should charge devices and prepare backup internet before Monday.

Where and when: planned power outages Warsaw

Stoen Operator scheduled outages from Monday 1 June to Wednesday 3 June 2026. The work will affect Mokotów, Bielany, Ursynów, Żoliborz, Wawer and Białołęka. Moreover, the outages are not accidents. The company will modernize substations and rebuild lines. However, the result for residents feels the same as a blackout.

On Tuesday the longest interruption will hit Ursynów near Jeziorki Południowe. The operator plans a 12-hour window from 08:00 to 20:00. Therefore many home workers will face a full workday without mains power. In addition, the Mokotów window on Monday runs from 07:00 to 17:00. Yet Mokotów will likely see only two 30-minute cuts during that window.

Which streets and why

The operator published a full list of streets and reasons. For example, engineers will rebuild a 15 kV line in Ursynów. Also crews will modernize station 12819 in Mokotów. Consequently the portal lists work for Marymoncka in Bielany and for Obrzeżna in Służewiec. In short, the work spans low and medium voltage networks across the city.

Who will feel it most and immediate impacts

Remote workers face the biggest disruption. Without mains power your router will die, so your laptop battery alone will not sustain video calls. Moreover, single-family homes may lose water if pumps depend on electricity. In apartment blocks elevators, intercoms and some building pumps may stop working. Therefore people with medical devices on mains power must prepare alternatives.

Freezers and refrigerators will stay cold for hours if you avoid opening them. Also gates and automatic doors may fail, so keep keys or manual overrides at hand. In addition, planned work often occurs outside the heating season. The operator chooses early summer to lower the risk of lost heating.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: In Poland utility operators publish planned outages on their portals, and Stoen Operator lists affected addresses. Therefore check awaria.stoen.pl by entering your street and number. Also carry Polish ID information in case you need local help; essential registers include PESEL (national ID number), ZUS (social security), and NFZ (national health fund). Moreover, a parking or speeding ticket (mandat) may arrive in Polish, so keep a local contact who can translate. Finally, if you rely on electric medical equipment or have small children, arrange a backup location or power supply in advance.

Practical steps will help you avoid a lost day. First, charge phones, laptops and powerbanks the night before. Second, test a mobile hotspot and consider a UPS for your router. Third, move perishable food to a central freezer or cool bag. Fourth, reschedule critical meetings outside the outage windows or book a co-working space.

Remember that the operator can update the list at short notice. Therefore check the portal the morning of planned work. Also report any extended outages to Stoen Operator if you lose power beyond the announced window.
