Lublin County bike paths project will add 20.8 km of pedestrian and cycle links, improving safety and sustainable travel.

The county of Lublin has launched a major road-safety and mobility project that will add more than 20 kilometres of walking and cycling routes. Lublin County bike paths will deliver 10.8 km of pedestrian routes and 10 km of mixed pedestrian-and-cycle lanes, and they aim to remove people from busy carriageways.

Lublin County bike paths: Where they will run

The project will build new stretches beside several county roads. For example, work will start near the Bełżyce–Strzeszkowice–Krężnica Jara road. Moreover, the county plans to place routes close to schools and public transport stops. Consequently, residents will gain safer links to jobs and shops. The construction will run from 2025 to 2027. Therefore, crews will focus only on foot and cycle infrastructure. The county will not resurface the main carriageways.

Why the investment matters for road safety and daily life

The scheme aims to cut collisions between cars and unprotected users. In addition, separating pedestrians and cyclists lowers the risk of being hit. Children and seniors will benefit directly. Moreover, the new routes will encourage daily cycling. As a result, the county expects fewer short car trips. The project totals more than 48 million PLN in value. However, almost 15.5 million PLN will come from the EU funds program called Fundusze Europejskie dla Lubelskiego. In addition, the funding agreement received signatures on 24 June 2026.

The county sees this as part of a broader push for sustainable transport. Consequently, the routes should integrate with buses and regional train services. Moreover, the paths will help people who lack a car. Therefore, the investment supports social inclusion. The project also aims to cut noise and pollution near homes. Meanwhile, planners expect benefits for tourism and short leisure rides.
