New Łazienkowska viaduct opens on Saska Kępa

The Trasa Łazienkowska viaduct opens Friday, restoring traffic lanes and bus stops. Expect temporary lane restrictions and finishing works.

Drivers will finally use the new south span over Paryska Street on Saska Kępa this Friday at 22:00, when the Trasa Łazienkowska viaduct opens. The change restores main carriageways in both directions, but crews will continue finishing work and keep temporary lane narrowings.

What the Trasa Łazienkowska viaduct opening means

City engineers will put traffic back on the correct lanes toward the city center and toward Grochów and Wawer. Consequently, both viaducts above Paryska will be passable from the evening. However, drivers should expect temporary lane reductions for finishing touches. In the direction of the center, crews will keep one lane open for about a week. Moreover, contractors will remove old road markings and paint new ones during that time.

In the outbound direction, drivers will get one general lane plus a bus lane. In addition, the project reopens key ramps. Drivers will use the Wał Miedzeszyński on-ramp toward Grochów. They will also use the exit to ulica Saska and the Urugwajska link to the route. Therefore, local traffic should flow more naturally despite the remaining narrowings.

Traffic, public transport and the wider network

Public transport will return to normal stops. Consequently, temporary platforms by ulica Saska and Międzynarodowa will disappear. Bus 411 will go straight via Aleja Stanów Zjednoczonych to ulica Saska toward Stara Miłosna and Gocław. Moreover, line E-1 will use Wał Miedzeszyński, Aleja Stanów Zjednoczonych and Saska toward Gocław. In the opposite direction, it will run from Saska through Brazylijska and Międzynarodowa before rejoining Aleja Stanów Zjednoczonych and Wał Miedzeszyński.

Opening the south span coincides with a tram track overhaul on Aleje Jerozolimskie. Consequently, the reopened route will act as a key alternative for drivers crossing the Vistula. Therefore, commuters who cross between the left and right banks will find some relief. However, expect more traffic on the corridor while other repairs progress.

Scope, budget and what comes next

The upgrade covers demolition and rebuilding of viaducts above Paryska and Bajońska. Moreover, workers will replace the pavement layers and install noise barriers on Aleja Stanów Zjednoczonych between Bajońska and Międzynarodowa. Each rebuilt viaduct measures 210 meters. Consequently, the finished layout will keep three traffic lanes per direction as before. However, the project expanded after crews found a deteriorated road base. Therefore, planners shifted the completion date for the Praga section to July 2026.

Contractors Warbud SA and Eurovia Polska SA lead the works. In addition, the Stołeczny Zarząd Rozbudowy Miasta manages the investment. The construction cost stands at 98.2 million PLN. Moreover, the total project value tops 106.4 million PLN. The state covered most costs via the Governmental Polish Deal strategic fund.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you drive in Warsaw, plan for short-term delays and use public transport when possible. Remember Polish terms: ZUS means social security fund, NFZ means national health fund, PESEL is your national ID number, and a mandat is a traffic fine. Consequently, carry ID and learn local bus stops. Moreover, check traffic apps and local municipal pages for live updates.
