Luka Gucek leaves Gornik Leczna

Luka Gucek Gornik Leczna: The Slovenian defender and Górnik Łęczna agreed to terminate his contract ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Slovenian defender Luka Gucek Gornik Leczna has left Górnik Łęczna after the club declined a one-year contract extension. The sides also agreed to an early termination, and Gucek departs the club he joined in January.

Luka Gucek Gornik Leczna: the facts

The club said it did not exercise the extra-year option. Consequently, both parties agreed to end the deal early. Gucek arrived from NK Maribor in January. During the spring round of the 2025/2026 Betclic I Liga he played 13 matches. Moreover, he accumulated 1050 minutes on the pitch. However, his second appearance produced an own goal in a 1:1 draw with Stal Mielec. In addition, he scored at home against GKS Tychy to secure a valuable win for Łęczna.

Transfer context and squad changes

Górnik announced two departures this summer. First, Luka Gucek left by mutual consent. Second, the club confirmed it parted ways with Bartosz Śpiączka. Therefore, the team has no recorded incoming signings so far. Furthermore, Patryk Paryzek, Kamil Nowogoński and Bartosz Biedrzycki also left when their loans expired or contracts ended. Consequently, fans should expect a trimmed squad heading into 2026/27.

Why this matters to expats and fans

The change matters beyond match results. For one, Betclic I Liga is Poland’s second tier and it shapes local football culture. Moreover, Górnik Łęczna plays an outsized role in its small town. The club creates weekend rituals for families and expats alike. Therefore, departures change squad depth and the match-day experience. In addition, foreign players often face bureaucracy when they move to Poland. For example, they must register for a PESEL number for local ID, and they join ZUS for social contributions. (PESEL is the national ID number, and ZUS runs state social insurance; NFZ manages public health insurance.)

What to watch next

Scout the market for arrivals. However, clubs in this tier often wait until late August to finalise deals. Consequently, Górnik could recruit in the last weeks of the window. Moreover, budget constraints can shape choices. Therefore, expect local or loan signings rather than big transfers from abroad. Fans should follow official club channels for confirmations, and expats should check stadium access rules in Łęczna. In addition, match tickets and parking work differently than in big cities, so plan ahead.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you are an expat following the club, allow time to register for local services. For short stays you may not need a PESEL, but longer contracts require one. In addition, attending matches often means cash or local card payments, and public transport links from Lublin matter. Finally, if you see a player move from abroad, note that clubs handle work permits and social insurance (ZUS) for the player.
