The Lubliner Festival returns to Lublin with concerts, walks and meetings about Jewish life. The Lubliner Festival recalls the vanished Jewish quarter and its influence on the city.

Music and performances

The programme blends traditional Jewish music with modern interpretations. Moreover, it features concerts by Yehuda Prokopowicz and a string quintet led by Sebastian Wypych. Consequently, the programme pays tribute to Chopin and Wladyslaw Szpilman. In addition, audiences will hear Izabela Szafrańska and Janusz Radek. However, the festival also offers klezmer beyond Poland. Therefore, Frank London will lead the festival finale Klezmer Night Fever! on August 8. Walks, workshops and sites

The festival organises guided walks across Lublin. Participants will visit the Yeshiva of Chachmei Lublin and the former Jewish district. In addition, the festival runs food workshops on Jewish street food and traditional sweets. Children will enjoy theatre workshops and a family culinary class. Lubliner Festival: memory and commemoration

The festival dedicates events to Holocaust remembrance. On August 3, the museum at Majdanek will host a ceremony marking the camp liquidation anniversary. Moreover, the closing day includes the artistic-educational project “Forgotten Memory.” Consequently, it features workshops at the New Jewish Cemetery and a performance by Aleksander Foltynski. In addition, actors from the Jewish Theatre in Warsaw will present a concert titled “Lechaim! For life!” The festival also plans a Shabbat meeting at the Yeshiva of Chachmei Lublin. Therefore, the programme mixes sacred ritual with public culture.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: Most festival events remain free, but some require prior registration. Register online or collect free tickets at the Centrum Kultury box office. Note that tickets expire one hour after an event starts. If you are an expat new to Poland, bring identification. In Poland you may hear references to PESEL (national ID number), ZUS (social insurance) and NFZ (public health insurer). However, you do not need any of these to attend public events. Moreover, Majdanek ceremonies can be solemn. Therefore, respect quiet and follow museum rules. Finally, synagogue visits may expect modest dress and quiet behaviour.
