Lublin to Build Poland’s Biggest Speedway Stadium

Lublin launches tender to rebuild Motor Lublin stadium into a 16,600-seat multiuse arena, with completion planned for 2028.

The city of Lublin launched a public tender to rebuild the Motor Lublin stadium. Moreover, city officials say the project will create the largest speedway arena in Poland and a year-round events hub.

Motor Lublin stadium: scale and timeline

The tender closes on May 6. Consequently, the municipality will select a contractor soon after. The winning firm will have nine months to finish design work. In addition, the firm must secure permits and align plans with PGE Ekstraliga and the Polish Motor Union. Therefore, construction planning aims to finish while the club races away from home.

What the plan includes

The city instructs the contractor to design seating for about 16,600 spectators. Moreover, the plan shortens the track from 382 to 350 metres and expands the safety zone to four metres. In addition, the scheme includes full roofing, modern technical facilities, and a new main stand. Furthermore, the works cover guest sectors, referee and media facilities, machine park, entry zones, sanitary rooms, and small concessions. The city also plans underground parking. However, officials link the project to wider transport works. Consequently, they will upgrade access roads and evacuation routes near the Bystrzyca River. Therefore, they aim to modernise the area opposite Aleje Zygmuntowskie tennis courts with parking and public space.

Seasonal impact and where Motor will play

Motor Lublin will play its home fixtures away for one season during construction. Moreover, club leaders expect the 2027 season to be challenging. In addition, behind-the-scenes talk points to matches staged in Łódź. The club hopes fans will follow it for that campaign. Therefore, the team plans logistical support for travel and ticketing during relocation.

Economic sense and multiuse vision

The mayor frames the project as public infrastructure. Furthermore, he says the complex will boost the city’s cultural and commercial calendar. The administration plans conference spaces and facilities for concerts, fairs, and sports like climbing. In addition, city leaders expect more year-round revenue than a single-purpose venue would deliver. However, officials still need bids and cost plans. Consequently, residents should await detailed budgets before claiming financial outcomes.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you live in Lublin or visit for events, expect traffic changes and new parking rules. Moreover, buy tickets online to avoid queues. In addition, carry ID at events; foreign residents sometimes need a PESEL (Polish national ID number) for season passes. Also, public services like ZUS (social security) and NFZ (public health insurer) remain unrelated to stadium access. However, police can issue a mandat (fine) for infractions inside the venue. Therefore, watch local announcements for route and transit updates.

Local leaders promise the stadium will become a city showcase. Furthermore, they aim to keep the venue active all year. In addition, the project may increase local tourism and jobs during events. Therefore, foreigners living in Lublin should monitor the tender progress and transport changes. Source: Read original article
