Las Vegas-style Nightskating through Warsaw

Nightskating Warsaw stages a Las Vegas-themed 22km night skate on May 16. Expect central and west Warsaw road disruptions and police escort.

Nightskating Warsaw will roll through the capital on Saturday evening. The Las Vegas Ride invites skaters to a 22-kilometre loop starting at 20:30.

Nightskating Warsaw: Route and timing

The ride begins at the Copernicus Monument on Krakowskie Przedmieście. Consequently participants assemble from 19:30. The group will travel a 22 km route. It passes Nowy Świat, Świętokrzyska and Marszałkowska. Moreover it continues along Aleje Jerozolimskie towards Wola. Then riders go through Towarowa, Prosta and Kasprzaka. In addition the route runs west to Bemowo via Połczyńska and Lazurowa. Afterwards the column returns along central streets to Krakowskie Przedmieście. The organisers estimate the finish could be as late as midnight. Therefore plan any evening travel accordingly.

Route and traffic disruptions

The event covers central and western Warsaw. Consequently drivers must expect temporary road blockages. Moreover buses and trams may face delays on parts of Marszałkowska. Police will escort the column to manage traffic. However motorists can usually find alternative cross streets. Also ride marshals will guide participants through junctions. Therefore follow official instructions on the day. If you drive, allow extra time for journeys through Śródmieście and Wola.

Safety, organisation and who can join

Organisers POLSKATER run the event with police support. Furthermore medics and a Nightskating team on skates will oversee safety. The ride is free. However it targets confident skaters only. Participants must know how to brake and ride in a group. Moreover organisers warn against joining without experience. If you need medical care, public services operate via NFZ (National Health Fund). In addition private options exist. Remember that a fine (mandat) can apply for dangerous behaviour. Also carry ID if possible. For foreigners a PESEL number (national ID number) can help with local formalities, but visitors usually use passports.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you plan to watch or join, arrive early and scope the route. Consequently wear visible clothing and consider lights for safety. Moreover bring a copy of your passport or ID. If you need medical help after an incident, public coverage works under NFZ (the National Health Fund). In addition expect police presence, and obey their directions. Therefore do not block junctions. If officials issue a fine (mandat), pay it or contest it later in court. Also know that ZUS oversees social security for residents, but it rarely affects short visitors.
