Jasionka traffic falls; 1.3M target looks unlikely
Rzeszow Jasionka passenger decline continues after June fall of nearly 11%, making the 1.3M 2026 target unlikely.
Rzeszow Jasionka passenger decline continues after June’s near 11% year-on-year drop. Consequently, the airport’s plan for 1.3 million passengers in 2026 now looks doubtful.
June brought another drop
In June the airport handled about 127,800 passengers. However, the same month in 2025 saw almost 143,600 travellers. Therefore the month-on-month fall reached nearly 11%. Moreover, the six-month tally now sits around 516,300 passengers. In addition, that figure trails 2025 by more than 10%.
Rzeszow Jasionka passenger decline clouds 1.3m plan
Last year the airport recorded a record 1.28 million passengers. Therefore management set a target of 1.3 million for 2026. However, traffic reversed in March and fell harder in April. Consequently, observers say the target now looks increasingly unrealistic. In addition, the airport has not publicly clarified whether it still expects to meet the goal. The silence fuels uncertainty among carriers and local stakeholders.
Operations fell even faster
Flight operations dropped even more than passenger numbers. In June the airport reported about 1,400 movements. That number represents roughly 28% fewer operations than a year earlier. Furthermore, the January-to-June total plunged from nearly 10,900 to about 6,900 movements. As a result, cargo and charter rhythms look disrupted. Therefore airlines may re-evaluate capacity on the route network.
Communication and wider causes
Experts point to several external drivers behind the decline. For example, airlines like Lufthansa have adjusted services. Moreover, geopolitical issues and SkyUp’s troubles affected traffic. In addition, Jasionka relies heavily on charter flights. Consequently shifts in charter demand hit volumes fast. However, commentators stress that the larger issue concerns public communication. The airport promoted records loudly in 2025. Yet the management now answers few questions about the downturn. Therefore observers call for clearer statements about route decisions and seasonal expectations.
