Foxconn to build EV hub in Jaworzno

A Foxconn factory in Poland will build electric cars in Jaworzno, backed by 4.5bn PLN from the Recovery Plan.

Poland is about to sign a landmark deal with Foxconn to create a massive EV manufacturing hub. The announcement confirms a Foxconn factory in Poland and promises thousands of jobs and new industrial capacity in Silesia.

Foxconn factory in Poland: what the project is

ElectroMobility Poland (EMP) and Taiwan’s Foxconn plan a joint venture. Consequently, the company will use private capital and Polish public funds. Moreover, the Polish side will keep majority ownership and decision control. In addition, authorities notified the European Commission about the JV. Therefore, the partners expect final signatures in autumn 2026.

Timeline, money and local impact

The project secured 4.5 billion PLN from Poland’s Recovery and Resilience Plan. Consequently, the National Fund for Environmental Protection signed an investment agreement on May 13. Furthermore, EMP holds all necessary environmental and building permits. Construction should begin in early 2027. As a result, the plant aims to roll out the first electric car in Q4 2029. Moreover, EMP projects direct employment of about 4,000 people by 2035. In addition, the wider supply chain could add roughly 20,000 jobs regionally. Therefore, the hub could reshape the labour market in Upper Silesia.

Technology, IP and European reach

Foxtron, a Foxconn sister company, will supply advanced EV platforms. Consequently, Polish engineers will receive a full transfer of technical know-how. Moreover, the JV will register intellectual property in Poland. Therefore, the new models can be legally sold across the EU. In addition, EMP holds an exclusive licence for the EV chassis for Europe. As a result, the plant may serve as a gateway to wider continental manufacturing.

Why this matters to expats and foreign businesses

First, the investment strengthens Central Europe’s role in high-tech manufacturing. In addition, it creates chances for foreign suppliers and specialist contractors. Moreover, multinational technology partners such as Apple and Nvidia already work with Foxconn. Consequently, the plant could attract more global OEMs and suppliers to Poland. Therefore, expats should watch local recruitment and business opportunities closely.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you plan to work here, remember Polish employment uses contracts called “umowa o pracę” or contractor agreements. Moreover, employers register staff with ZUS (social security) and NFZ (public health insurer). In addition, you will likely need a PESEL number (national ID) for payroll and health care. Therefore, non-EU citizens should check work permit rules early. Also, living in Jaworzno offers lower housing costs than Warsaw. However, learn some Polish for daily tasks and safety interactions.

Local and national officials presented the plan publicly. Consequently, residents and businesses now anticipate a construction boom. Moreover, environmental monitoring and planning will continue during building. In addition, supply chains will expand across Silesia. Therefore, logistics, training and infrastructure will receive new investments.
