ZUS, the Social Insurance Institution in Poland, reported strong uptake for the program. Moreover, the agency said it transferred 7.7 million PLN to eligible parents in the region. However, the program excludes kindergarten pre-school groups called “zero classes” and university students. In addition, the allowance reaches students up to age 20. Therefore, families with a child who has an official disability certificate can receive it until the child turns 24. The benefit does not depend on family income or parents’ work status. Consequently, all eligible families qualify regardless of earnings.

How payments work and common pitfalls

ZUS will pay money to the bank account you specify in the online form. Applicants must apply only online. You can use the mZUS mobile app, the eZUS platform, your bank’s electronic services, or the Emp@tia portal. Therefore, do not send paper forms. Moreover, the application window runs from July 1 to November 30, 2026. If you submit documents correctly by the end of August, ZUS guarantees payment by the end of September. As a result, early filers should already see funds in their accounts.

When filling the form, check details carefully. In particular, verify the child’s PESEL number. PESEL is the national ID number used in many official systems. In addition, confirm the school name and address. Also, enter the current bank account number. Mistakes can delay processing and payment.
