Bronowicki Park to Reopen in Early Summer

Bronowicki Park reopening is scheduled for early summer; renovation adds meadows, playgrounds and restored historic features.

Bronowicki Park reopening is scheduled for early summer as refurbishment enters its final stage. The city expects residents and visitors to enjoy new paths, playgrounds, and large flowering meadows.

What the works delivered

The contractor STRABAG completed most construction tasks. Moreover, crews laid new granite promenades and built entrances on Bronowicka and Fabryczna streets. In addition, the project added a representative square at the intersection of both streets. The playground now includes water play features, and an outdoor gym offers equipment for adults. Furthermore, workers set up bike racks, benches, and accessible resting spots for people with mobility needs. The team also renovated the park’s historic fence. They restored the metalwork by following early 20th century designs. Consequently, the site blends heritage with modern safety standards.

Bronowicki Park reopening: green design and biodiversity

The requalification covers more than 2.5 hectares. Moreover, landscapers planted dozens of trees and shrubs. They added tulip trees, maples, oaks, ashes, ornamental cherries and eastern white pines. In addition, they planted roses and snowberries by the entrances. Furthermore, a green hornbeam hedge now screens the park along Fabryczna Street. The most striking addition will be the 3,500 square metre perennial meadows. As a result, tens of thousands of bulbs and perennials will create seasonal displays. Therefore, the park will look best in summer and in spring next year.

Costs, funding and cultural context

The project cost more than 8.6 million PLN and the city financed it partly with EU funds. In addition, the investment is part of Lublin’s preparations for European Capital of Culture 2029. Tomasz Fulara, Deputy Mayor for Investments and Development, says the park will serve the whole city. Consequently, officials see the space as a venue for small cultural events and community activities. Moreover, the restored layout revives a historical network of alleys from the early 20th century. The contractor reports that lighting and CCTV installations will finish shortly. Therefore, the municipality plans to reopen the park at the start of the holiday season.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you are new to Lublin, expect signage mostly in Polish at small parks. Also, local rules often ban cycling on promenades and require dogs to stay on a leash. Bring ID for city events; some municipal services may ask for a PESEL number (PESEL — national identification number used for public administration). Moreover, public healthcare uses NFZ (National Health Fund) for insured care, and employment contributions go through ZUS (Social Insurance Institution). Finally, note that a “mandat” means an on-the-spot fine for breaking local bylaws.

Visitors should watch the municipal website for the official opening date and planned events. In addition, expats may find community groups that organise meet-ups in the park. Therefore, this revitalised green space will become a practical and cultural asset for families, seniors, and newcomers.
