Fake Police Attack in Lublin: 250,000 zł Stolen

Three suspects who posed as police officers beat a retiree in Lublin and stole 250,000 zł. Authorities arrested three men after searches in Łódź, Konin and Lublin.

On January 8 in Lublin three men posed as police officers when they forced their way into an apartment. Consequently they beat the elderly resident and stole 250,000 zł in cash.

Details of the assault and theft

The men wore police-style clothing and gel face masks. However the masks made identification hard. They gained the man’s trust before he opened the door. Immediately after entry they attacked him. Moreover the attack showed planning. The suspects knew the victim kept a large sum in the flat. Therefore they searched quickly and found the cash. Then they left the scene with the money.

Investigation, arrests and charges

The regional criminal unit in Lublin led the probe. In addition the office worked under the district prosecutor’s supervision. Consequently officers used operational measures to identify suspects. Finally prosecutors warn the defendants face up to twenty years in prison if convicted.
