Lublin: 30-year-old wanted for robbery arrested

Police arrested a Lublin robbery suspect after a shopping trip; the court sentenced him to three years in prison.

Police in Lublin arrested a Lublin robbery suspect as he walked from a shopping gallery towards the car park. Consequently, officers from the provincial search unit and the VI police station detained the 30-year-old on a court warrant.

How the arrest unfolded

According to the police, search specialists tracked the man for days. Moreover, operational officers from the VI station watched the area near the mall. The suspect left a store with shopping bags. Therefore, officers moved in when he headed to the parking lot. In addition, police confirmed the arrest resulted from a court order linked to a June 2024 robbery case.

Details of the robbery and court ruling

Investigators say the crime involved two attackers. However, the attackers threatened the victim with death. They then knocked him to the ground and repeatedly kicked him. Consequently, they stole jewellery and a wallet with cash. The police estimated losses at about 4,500 zł, roughly 1,000 euros. In addition, the court found the 30-year-old guilty. Therefore, judges sentenced him to three years in prison. Afterwards, authorities transferred him directly to a penitentiary to serve his sentence.

What the police unit does and how to help

The arrest came after work by the provincial search and identification department. Moreover, these officers specialise in locating people wanted by courts. They use local intelligence and cross-checks with national databases. However, police ask citizens to report tips that may help. In addition, the KWP search unit in Lublin accepts anonymous calls and messages. You can call the unit at 798 003 676 to provide information. Importantly, callers can report tips even if they lack Polish language skills. The police will take the report and start an inquiry.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you witness a crime in Poland, dial 112 immediately. Moreover, give your statement to police and ask for an interpreter if needed. In addition, keep any receipts and photos as evidence. Note that PESEL (national ID number) proves identity, ZUS handles pensions and benefits, NFZ runs public health insurance, and a “mandat” means a fine issued on the spot.

Why this matters for expats

Crimes in public places affect community safety and local perception. Therefore, expats should know how police work in Poland. The force acts under judicial warrants and can arrest a suspect in public. Moreover, courts can impose immediate prison sentences after conviction. In addition, victims who are non-EU nationals should request a translator and consular help. Finally, keep emergency numbers and local police station contacts saved on your phone.
