Police in Torun and Golub-Dobrzyń County seized over 6 kg of drugs and arrested three people in coordinated raids.
Swift Torun operation breaks up major drug stash in Śródmieście and nearby county
Police in Torun carried out a rapid and targeted series of actions that dismantled a significant drug storage and distribution setup. Officers from the Torun-Śródmieście criminal unit first executed a warrant on Tuesday, Feb. 24. Moreover, they arrested a 41-year-old man who was wanted by the courts and who had 272 days of a sentence to serve. However, that arrest led officers to more evidence. During the apartment search, officers found nearly 200 grams of amphetamine.
Meanwhile, a separate team struck another location in Torun linked to the arrested man. Specifically, investigators discovered not only narcotics but also equipment commonly used in drug sales. They seized electronic scales, a sealing machine, and more than 12,000 zł in cash. In addition, officers recovered items resembling weapons. As a result, a 22-year-old woman was detained at that site.
Furthermore, the combined results of the searches were substantial. Police confiscated more than 6 kilograms of illegal substances. These included amphetamine in powder form, an unusual liquid form of amphetamine, marijuana and ecstasy tablets. Additionally, the following day, officers searched a property in Golub-Dobrzyń County. There, they found specialist equipment that likely served in the production of illegal drugs.
The detained suspects now face serious charges. The 41-year-old faces a charge of possession of a large quantity of narcotics and could face up to 10 years in prison. Meanwhile, the other man and the 22-year-old woman were charged with participating in the trafficking and introduction of large quantities of narcotics. They could face up to 12 years behind bars. Moreover, a court ordered three months of pretrial detention for both men. However, the court applied police supervision and a ban on leaving the country for the 22-year-old woman.
Police statements say the operation was deliberate and fast. Moreover, investigators continue to follow leads and evaluate additional evidence. As a result, authorities may press further charges or make more arrests if new links emerge.

Why this matters and what expats should know
Torun is a mid-sized city that draws students, professionals and foreign residents. However, even central districts such as Śródmieście can be targeted for illicit activity. Specifically, traffickers sometimes use ordinary apartments as stash points. Therefore, residents may notice more foot traffic, unexplained visitors or frequent short stays in flats. Moreover, nearby Golub-Dobrzyń County has rural properties that can host small production sites.
Consequently, expats should remain alert. First, avoid involvement in any unknown deliveries or sublets. Second, report suspicious behavior to local police at 112. Third, note license plates and descriptions but do not confront suspects. Additionally, register with your embassy and save local emergency contacts. Finally, remember Polish drug laws carry severe penalties. Therefore, do not accept packages or requests to store items for others.
