June Pensions Recalculated: Some Get Up to PLN 300

Check if the June pension increase 2026 affects you. ZUS recalculates June pensions from 2009–2019, adding about PLN 150–300 monthly for many.

If you received your pension in June, check if you’ll get more from 2026. The June pension increase 2026 already started quietly and many beneficiaries see higher payments.

Who qualifies and why this matters

Poland’s Social Insurance Institution recalculated many pensions early in 2026. ZUS (Polish Social Insurance Institution) updated benefits for people whose pensions began or were recalculated in June between 2009 and 2019. Consequently, this change affects those who got smaller yearly indexations in June. Moreover, the recalculation corrects a long-standing gap in valuation rules.

Why June pensions were lower

The core problem involved indexation timing. Between 2009 and 2019 officials applied only annual indexation in June. Therefore quarter-based increases did not apply for those dates. As a result, some pensions stayed permanently lower. The Constitutional Tribunal found the rule unconstitutional. Consequently the legislature changed the law and new rules took effect on 1 January 2026.

June pension increase 2026: how much you can gain

Data show meaningful lifts for many seniors. The average monthly rise equals about PLN 200. In addition, some people gain between PLN 150 and PLN 300. Therefore households can see over PLN 2,400 extra per year. However, ZUS will not cut any pension if a recalculation produces a lower amount. In such cases the institution keeps the higher prior benefit.

Where in Poland the change is most visible?

Warsaw reports a large share of affected beneficiaries. Many city residents retired in the 2009–2019 window. Consequently, Warsaw shows visible corrections in household budgets. Moreover about 66 percent of recalculation beneficiaries are women. Therefore the reform partly addresses past inequalities, especially for early retirees.

What you should do now

First, check your bank statement for recent increases. In addition, view your decision on PUE ZUS (the ZUS electronic services portal). If you need a paper check, visit a local ZUS office. Bring your PESEL number and ID. Moreover ask about the recalculation reference if you see no change. However note one important limit: ZUS will not pay retroactive compensation for past years. Therefore the increase applies from 2026 onward only.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you are an expat helping a family member, register for PUE ZUS and get their PESEL (national ID number). ZUS handles pension letters in Polish. Consequently you may need help to read the decision. In addition, keep your Polish bank details updated to receive transfers. Finally, know that ZUS is the agency that manages pensions and social contributions.
