Rzeszów Half Marathon: Route and Road Closures

Runners will race through central Rzeszów on Sunday. Find the Rzeszów half marathon route, road closures, and tips for expats.

The Rzeszów half marathon will send hundreds of runners through central streets on Sunday.

Consequently, drivers should expect road closures and traffic disruptions from morning until mid afternoon.

Start, route and schedule

The race begins at 10:30 near Millenium Hall on Sunday.

Moreover, organisers mapped the course as two identical loops around the city centre.

Therefore, runners will pass many central streets twice.

In addition, the route includes al. Kopisto, Most Zamkowy, ul. Szopena, and al. Piłsudskiego.

Consequently, spectators will see runners at the Rynek and river boulevards.

Rzeszów half marathon: Road closures and route

The main traffic changes will run from 09:30 to 14:30 on race day.

However, organisers will close some streets completely for safety.

Furthermore, other roads will operate with separated lanes protected by barriers.

Also, runners will use the left lane on al. Piłsudskiego against normal car flow.

In addition, al. Kopisto will close earlier from 06:00 between ul. Rejtana and ul. Podwisłocze.

Consequently, residents living near the route should plan errands earlier or later.

Traffic management and driver guidance

The police will manage traffic at key junctions across the course.

Moreover, officers will direct drivers towards recommended detours.

Consequently, they will also coordinate safe crossings at busy streets like ul. Hetmańska.

In addition, traffic will reopen progressively after the closing police car passes.

Therefore, full normal traffic flow should return by around 14:30.

However, short delays may persist in some areas later into the afternoon.

Who is affected and why this matters

About 2,500 runners will take part, including local and visiting athletes.

Moreover, businesses along the route may see altered foot traffic patterns.

Consequently, public transport schedules might shift slightly, so check timetables.

In addition, drivers using the east-west corridors should seek alternative routes early.

Therefore, plan purchases, appointments, or deliveries outside the closure window.

💡 GOOD TO KNOW: If you live or work near the route, expect police-managed closures. Consequently, carry ID when you travel, and keep PESEL (Polish national ID number) only if required. Moreover, understand local fines (mandat means fine), and learn basics of ZUS (Social Insurance Institution) and NFZ (National Health Fund) if you plan long stays. Therefore, show patience with officers directing traffic, and ask for help in English if needed.
